Invisible braces are orthodontic treatments that cannot be seen yet still gradually move overcrowded or crooked teeth and can fix poor biting position. Keppel Advanced Dentistry offers a number of invisible brace options:
The Invisible braces process involves the creation of clear moulds that act as aligners to straighten your teeth. The moulds are made after your orthodontist records impressions of your teeth and sends them to a lab. Using digital technology the lab makes the clear liners or retainers in about 2 weeks and sends them back to your orthodontist for you to try on.
The aligners are clear and barely visible to others compared to metal orthodontic braces with brackets and wires, they are changed every two to three weeks.
The number of invisible aligners will depend on the individual patient and the orthodontic problem. There can be some discomfort or mild pain when a new aligner is placed as it exerts pressure on the teeth to move them. Unlike traditional metal orthodontic braces, there are no brackets to come off or wires to break and poke.
Invisible braces are primarily for adults and not for children, they aren’t suitable for all orthodontic conditions but we’ll guide you through your options and what the best treatment for you will be.
In addition to the aesthetic, emotional and convenience benefits of invisible braces, the removable nature of them makes it easier to clean your teeth while you are having treatment. They are also more comfortable and safer for active lifestyles than traditional braces.
There are several invisible braces alternatives to choose from including Invisalign, Inman aligner and lingual braces.
