Research into plaque identifying toothpaste may help the whole body’s health
There has been a long standing link between the health of your mouth and the health of the rest of your body. Researchers in the USA has discovered a link between a toothpaste that helps identify plaque in your mouth with a reduction in inflammation in other parts of the body. A plaque identifying toothpaste was trialed against a placebo toothpaste. Whilst no one is surprised that being able to see areas of plaque on your teeth means you can focus on removing it during tooth brushing, an added benefit was the reduction of inflammation in other parts of the body.
Charles H Hennekens, senior author and Dean of the Charles E Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University found these discoveries ‘new and novel’. The full article can be found here
